Lolly Sticks Settles

Victorian Arm Chair and Stool

This high backed Victorian Chair was designed and made by one of our members who donated several chairs to the Mini Kids charity to sell at Miniatura, club members were so impressed that they also wanted to make the chair. Kits were produced and the chairs were made during one of our monthly meetings. Having seen the chairs at Miniatura, Dolls House and Miniature Scene contacted the club member who designed it. The chair, along with the instructions, were later published in the magazine. Matching Stools and a Screen were added at later club meetings.

Bed for a Shallow Attic Room

This was a joint effort by three of our club members and pictures along with instructions were published in Dolls House and Miniature Scene. The bed was designed to fit into the shallow attic of a shop that club members had made during one of our all day Saturday workshops. The Besom Broom was made using "thatching" material and a small twig. An ideal low bed for any “vertically challenged” bedroom in your Dolls House.

Nail Varnish Flowers

On a family visit to New Zealand one of our club members went along to a meeting of the local Dolls House Club near to where she was staying and was shown how to create these lovely flowers using thin electrical wire and nail varnish. On her return to Exeter Dolls House Club a few weeks later she brought along all the items needed to create these lovely flowers.

Paper Flowers Pots

One of our newer members had also taken up Quilling and one evening she brought along her Quilling tools and strips of paper and showed us how to make tiny flower pots. She then produce from her work box a piece of plastic fish tank “weed” and coloured sawdust and explained how she had created the pretty pot plants you see on the left. These little potted plants make an excellent addition to any miniature room or garden.

Settles made from Lolly Sticks

Apart from the sides, which were cut from a piece of thin wood from a local model shop, these high back Settles were made using Lolly Sticks. The rounded ends of the Lolly Sticks made an interesting top edge for the back. A fairly easy project to do but good quality wood glue was a must. Wood stain, coloured varnish or painted, these will look good in any Dolls House Kitchen or Hall.
Wire Flowers
Cleaning Bottles

Liquid Filled Cleaning Bottles

These cleaning products are made from Contact Lens Fluid containers that are packaged in pre-measured amounts. The bottoms are sealed with hot glue. Beads, sections cut from disposable dental floss sticks and a piece of the plastic sleeving from electrical wire were glued together, again using hot glue, to create the internal tube and “trigger”. Labels were printed out on a colour printer to the correct size and glued in place. The same technique can be used to create bottles of wines and spirits. These cleaning bottles were based on a project found on YouTube.
